The iron and steel making is considered among the biggest industries which run world. This industry contributes around 20% of global industrial-sector energy consumption that provided significantly by coal coke. fossil-based fuels are consumed largely for heat generation reducing agents in production processes leads to huge CO2 emissions. matter encourages find an effective, environmentally friendly, sustainable substitute instead coke coal. Recently, biochar has received lots consideration as a possible replace since acceptable adaptation comparable metallurgical properties However, biomass application manufactures currently limited it endures strong competition with coal-based fuels. paper investigates key challenges affected on plant ability overcome these difficulties. work evaluates substitution biochar, focusing metallurgical, technical environmental aspects view gate-to-gate analysis, from entry gate (input feedstocks or biochar) exit (that production). Moreover, opportunities obstacles performance energy-intensive such coke-making, sintering blast furnace discussed finally, main questions regarding evaluation alternatives their impacts system answered.
